The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to announce the Class 10 Second Board Examination Result 2026. As of July 5, 2026, the board has not released any official notification regarding the result date, nor has it activated the result link on its official websites. Students who appeared for the examination are advised to wait for an official confirmation before expecting the scorecards to be published online.
The second board examination for Class 10 was conducted between May 15 and May 21, 2026, marking the first implementation of CBSE’s two-exam system. The initiative gives students an additional opportunity to improve their performance within the same academic year and allows eligible compartment candidates to clear their subjects without waiting for the next examination cycle.
More Than 6.68 Lakh Students Registered
According to CBSE data, 6,68,854 candidates enrolled for the second board examination. Among them, 5,25,655 students opted to improve their earlier scores, while 85,285 candidates registered under the compartment category. Another 57,914 students fell under the combined improvement-and-compartment category.
Science emerged as the most preferred subject among candidates, followed by Mathematics and Social Science. A significant number of students also appeared for regional and foreign language papers, whereas specialised subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Tourism, Music, and Painting recorded comparatively lower participation.
Higher Score to Be Counted Under Best-of-Two Rule
CBSE will prepare the final Class 10 result using its best-of-two evaluation policy. Under this approach, students eligible for improvement will receive the higher marks obtained in either the first or second board examination, ensuring that their better performance is reflected in the final result.
The second examination was available to students seeking improvement in up to three subjects as well as those placed in the compartment category. However, candidates classified under the Essential Repeat category or those who failed or were absent in three or more subjects were not eligible to appear.
Compartment candidates must obtain at least 33 per cent marks in each concerned subject to be declared successful.
Session 1 Pass Percentage Stood at 93.70%
Earlier this year, CBSE announced the Class 10 Session 1 results, in which 24,71,777 students appeared. Out of them, 23,16,008 candidates passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 93.70 per cent.
Among the regional offices, Trivandrum and Vijayawada recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.79 per cent each. They were followed by Chennai with 99.58 per cent, Bengaluru with 98.91 per cent, Delhi West at 97.45 per cent, and Delhi East at 97.33 per cent.
In terms of school categories, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) achieved the highest pass percentage at 99.57 per cent, followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) with 99.42 per cent. The pass percentages for other school categories were 97.42 per cent for STSS institutions, 93.77 per cent for independent schools, 91.43 per cent for government schools, and 91.01 per cent for government-aided schools.
Girls outperformed boys in Session 1, recording a pass percentage of 94.99 per cent, compared with 92.69 per cent for boys. The pass percentage among transgender students stood at 87.50 per cent.
Where Students Can Check Their Results
Once announced, the CBSE Class 10 Second Board Result 2026 will be accessible through the board’s official websites and digital platforms, including cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, result.cbse.nic.in, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app.
Students will need their roll number, registration number, and date of birth to download the provisional marksheet. The online scorecard will display important details such as the student’s name, roll number, date of birth, subject-wise marks, total marks, and qualifying status.
After the results are declared, CBSE will also open the online window for services such as verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer sheets, and applying for re-evaluation of specific answers.
As in previous years, the board will not publish a merit list or assign divisions to students. CBSE has maintained that this policy is intended to reduce unhealthy academic competition and encourage a more balanced evaluation system.
