There could be pressure on Nvidia , given the self-imposed slowdown of the artificial intelligence data center buildout that Sam Altman from OpenAI, Elon Musk from xAI, and Dario Amodei from Anthropic have raised. Dario’s posting over the weekend — headlined as “We Must Pace the Frontier” — is self-evident and extremely self-serving. David Sacks, former tech investor and White House AI and crypto czar, has an excellent counterpoint that could explain the apparent duplicity of Dario’s manifesto. Sacks, co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, wrote on X and concluded: “Go ahead and pace the…

As part of this work, hundreds of seismometers, as well as networks of fiber-optic cables, will be used to record even the tiniest of earthquakes during periods of tranquility and unrest. This monitoring effort will be aided by machine learning programs that will be taught to identify minute shifts in the seismic soundtrack of these volcanoes. In recent years, these programs have been used to process a huge volume of data far more proficiently and efficiently than scientists can manage alone. The survey was conducted by Morning Consult for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and included 1,102 U.S. men. It also found that only 20% had received information from a healthcare professional about the relationship between nutrition and prostate cancer risk. “Physicians and…

In Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, a wealthy man commissions an evening’s entertainment: a lofty new opera and a comic burlesque.
