It’s official: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are married.
The news was confirmed by a sign posted on the jumbotron outside of Madison Square Garden shortly after 730 p.m. ET on Friday, July 3.
This week, details of the much-reported, multi-day Madison Square Garden wedding celebration began to emerge through police memos and permits obtained by The New York Times and Associated Press.
The couple held what was reportedly a 100-person rehearsal dinner Thursday night at the Infosys Theater within the Garden. Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, Bradley Cooper and Lena Dunham were among the stars spotted on their way to the dinner. Video waivers for guests spotted by TMZ fueled speculation that reception concert performances could be released publicly. According to photos posted on Deux Moi, guests were seen leaving the dinner with monogrammed gifts.
The wedding itself took place at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, with the reception set to run until as late as 4 a.m. ET on Saturday morning, according to a copy of a city permit obtained by the AP and details provided by the police.
Stars spotted arriving at the World’s Most Famous Arena in Midtown Manhattan included Antonoff, Cooper, Dunham, Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jessica Chastain, Dakota Johnson, Jason Sudeikis, Benson Boone, Hugh Grant, Kelsea Ballerini, Camila Cabello, Karlie Kloss and Josh Kushner, Ethan Hawke, Zoë Kravitz, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, the Haim sisters, the Chainsmokers (Alex Pall and Drew Taggart), Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson, soccer star Abby Wambach and author wife Glennon Doyle, L.A. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and wife Kelly, Nikki Glaser, Ellie Goulding, George Stephanopoulos, Aaron Dessner, Julianne Moore, George Kittle, Eric Stonestreet, Swift’s longtime best friend Abigail Anderson, San Francisco 49ers star Kyle Juszczyk and wife Kristin, Seattle Seahawks star Cooper Kupp, Graham Norton, Joe Buck and wife Michelle Beisner-Buck, Barbara Corcoran, Jenny Han, Tommy Hilfiger, The Chicks, Sombr, Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Saturday Night Live breakout Marcello Hernandez.
Still even more guests remained enshrouded in secrecy as black cars were seen driving into a large white tent with the entrance set off by black curtains, shielding guests from nearby prying eyes.
Leading up to the event, Swift’s team remained quiet about the upcoming nuptials but did share Thursday that the superstar singer-songwriter and her NFL tight end fiancé had made $26 million in charitable donations to more than a dozen organizations across the country.
Meanwhile, outside of the Garden, intense security and privacy measures were undertaken.
On Thursday, ahead of the rehearsal dinner, The Hollywood Reporter spotted a white tent being raised up to the door of the VIP entrance to the arena. In front of the Garden’s main entrance, THR heard that another, red curtain had gone up. Police officers were stationed in packs around the venue, particularly on 7th and 8th Avenues. And snipers were stationed atop the Garden with surveillance helicopters heard overhead.
Numerous streets around the arena were also closed to vehicle and, in some cases, pedestrian traffic.
Meanwhile, Thursday night, there were a handful of Swift fans outside of the Garden on Thursday night as New York endured an extended heat wave. Friday saw even more Swift fans brave the heat, with temperatures in Manhattan exceeding 100 degrees on both days, as they gathered as close as they could get amid street closures and metal fences. A cheer reportedly went up from the crowd when Grant walked by.
The dress code for the event was black-tie, according to reports and as illustrated by the tuxes sported by guests as they arrived, with Swift expected to wear a custom couture gown by Jonathan Anderson of Christian Dior.
And Swift reportedly worked with mysterious wedding planner to the stars Mark Seed, who, among other events, planned Antonoff’s wedding.
Guests at the wedding were reportedly asked to sign non-disclosure agreements and no phones were allowed.
Last month, Page Six reported that the couple was looking at Madison Square Garden for their wedding, but many fans doubted that the couple would choose the spot known for hosting New York Knicks and Rangers games and big-name concerts, for their wedding venue.
Still the large space accustomed to dealing with events with heightened security offered a number of strategic advantages.
The couple married less than a year after they got engaged last August. They announced their engagement on Instagram in a joint post, which showed the Kansas City Chiefs player getting on one knee in a rose garden to ask the Swift to marry him. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” read the caption, which also saw Swift flexing her massive diamond ring.
Kelce and Swift have been speculated to be together since late summer 2023. They went public and confirmed their relationship a couple of months later. The “Style” singer previously confirmed that they started dating in July 2023, shortly after Kelce mentioned her on his New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother and former NFL star, Jason Kelce. On the podcast, he spoke about how he attempted to give Swift his number at her Kansas City Eras Tour stop and didn’t get his shot.
Nonetheless, all worked out.
Over the past few years, the couple has been very public with their relationship. Swift has regularly attended Kelce’s games, including when he won the Super Bowl in 2024. Kelce has also frequently supported Swift, going to many of her concerts during the Eras Tour and being by her side at major award shows. She also has made many not-so-veiled references to Kelce in several of her songs, including the ones on her latest album The Life of a Showgirl, released last fall.
