Olivia Rodrigo has a lot of music on the Billboard charts at the moment. Last week, her third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love debuted at No. 1 on half a dozen rankings, including the Billboard 200 and the Top Album Sales and Top Streaming Albums lists. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is steady atop each and every one of those tallies, and all of the dozen-plus songs featured on its track list remain hits as well.
Amidst her continued success, Rodrigo only manages to command two of Billboard’s songs charts. As she holds in first place on one of those tallies, the singer-songwriter ties her own longest winning streak, a feat she may pass in only a few days.
Olivia Rodrigo Leads the Alternative Chart With “The Cure”
Rodrigo’s “The Cure,” which was released as the second official single from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love less than a month before the project dropped, can be found on seven rosters published by Billboard, and it rules one of them. “The Cure” is steady at No. 1 on the Alternative Streaming Songs ranking, which lists only the most-played alternative tracks on platforms like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Tidal and others. As of this frame, “The Cure” has now spent five weeks – the entirety of its run on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart – in the penthouse.
“The Cure” Ties Olivia Rodrigo’s No. 1 Record
“The Cure” is one of three No. 1s Rodrigo has collected on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart, and as of this period, it is tied as her sturdiest winner. “Bad Idea, Right?” opened at the summit in August 2023 and similarly went on to spend a month running the show. The Grammy winner’s first ruler, “Brutal,” which launched atop the ranking in June 2021, only held in that space for a pair of moments.
Interest in all things Rodrigo and You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love remains incredibly high, as the album is still new. There’s a very good chance that when Billboard publishes its charts again in a few days, “The Cure” will once again hold atop the Alternative Streaming Songs rundown. If that turns out to be the case, it will pass “Bad Idea, Right?” and become her longest-running No. 1 yet.
Olivia Rodrigo Blocks Herself from a New No. 1
For the second week in a row, Rodrigo occupies the highest two spaces on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart. “The Cure” once again blocks fellow You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love tune “Maggots for Brains” from becoming her fourth career leader. The album cut launched in second place only a few days ago, and is unable to best “The Cure,” which has plenty of promotional might behind it.
“Maggots for Brains” Ties “Get Him Back!”
“Maggots for Brains” is one of only a pair of tracks by Rodrigo that have failed to conquer the Alternative Streaming Songs chart by just a single rung. “Get Him Back!” began its time on the genre-focused tally at No. 2 back in September 2023. It never pushed its way to the top spot in the 22 weeks it spent on the streaming roster.
Olivia Rodrigo Fills Eight Spaces on the Alternative Tally
The Alternative Streaming Songs chart features 25 spaces, and this week, Rodrigo fills nearly one-third of them. Eight tracks, all taken from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, remain streaming smashes. Half a dozen live within the top 10.
Here is a look at where all of Olivia Rodrigo’s cuts land on this week’s Alternative Streaming Songs chart.
- No. 1 – “The Cure”
- No. 2 – “Maggots for Brains”
- No. 4 – “Expectations”
- No. 5 – “My Way”
- No. 6 – “What’s Wrong With Me” with Robert Smith
- No. 7 – “U + Me = <3”
- No. 11 – “Cigarette Smoke”
- No. 13 – “Purple”
“Stupid Song” Rules Billboard’s Worldwide Chart
Rodrigo also sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, which details the most-consumed songs all around the planet. “Stupid Song,” the third single from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, opened at No. 1 last frame and is once again the leader. That’s the only other Billboard roster where Rodrigo sits in the top spot, and “Stupid Song” is now one of four multi-week rulers on the Billboard Global 200. Only “Drop Dead” managed a single stint in the penthouse.
