The WWE Crown Jewel concept is cool, but I sometimes wonder if the event forces a matchup between two champions with almost no build. That’s the issue every year, but this year’s event could have an even bigger problem. As currently constructed, does anyone want to see the men and women’s Crown Jewel matches? Let’s talk wrestling.

Crown Jewel returns to Riyadh after last year’s Perth show, its only edition outside Saudi Arabia. This is WWE’s third Saudi event of 2026 and part of Riyadh Season, with WrestleMania 43 heading there in 2027. Money in the Bank on October 10 is the only main roster PLE between now and then, which gives WWE roughly four weeks of television and one show to change any of the title pictures below.
It feels like we just saw Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk, so unless one or both of them drops the title soon, why would we want to watch this again? To be honest, it’s easy to forget who the WWE women’s champions are at this point. Injuries and underdeveloped storylines have robbed the titles of having the presence they had when Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley were healthy and reigning.
As it is, Ripley is the champ, but she’s injured. Chelsea Green is the interim champion, and she’s hurt too. Liv Morgan is holding down the Woman’s World Champion title, but who could she face at Crown Jewel that would make for a compelling matchup? We’ve seen her and Rhea multiple times. We haven’t seen Liv and Green, but how are they going to build that one.
The Women’s Title Picture, Two Months Out
| Champion | Title | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Rhea Ripley | WWE Women’s Championship, lineal | Out since June, meniscus surgery, one report has her back by the Royal Rumble |
| Chelsea Green | WWE Women’s Championship, interim | Won the SummerSlam ladder match August 2, then fractured her orbital bone on SmackDown |
| Liv Morgan | Women’s World Championship | Active, won at WrestleMania 42 |
Moreover, if the titles have moved around between now and Crown Jewel (Money in the Bank happens in just over a month) we could see something interesting. WWE Creative has to be hard at work making this one make sense.
