Nick Heyward, songwriter/vocals, guitarIf I’d been sitting down when I wrote Fantastic Day, it would have been a different song, but I was standing up in front of a chocolate-brown wall with the names of all my favourite punk bands scribbled on it. I was envisioning the future. It was 1978, and my family had moved across London to a place called the Ski Club of Great Britain where my parents ran the bar. We lived in the basement and I had a tiny room that was like a ship’s cabin.I was drawn to bands with a guitarist who played…

Social commentator and institutional reforms advocate, Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink, has said the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, lacks the qualities required to lead Nigeria, arguing that his politics is divisive and driven by what he described as an online “mob.” Awosanya made the remarks during an interview on Vanguard’s Politics Hub, where he spoke on the state of the nation, the 2027 general election and Obi’s presidential ambition. Describing the former Anambra State governor, Segalink said Obi had built his political appeal around public anger rather than national leadership. “It is obvious…
Researchers have uncovered a surprising side effect of artificial lighting: ordinary streetlights can lure thousands of tiny land dwelling isopods into giant synchronized “death spirals.” The newly documented behavior, observed in Israel, is the first of its kind and suggests that human made lighting can dramatically disrupt the instincts of small ground dwelling animals. The study was led by PhD student Idan Sheizaf under the supervision of Prof. Ariel Chipman at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Published in Ecology and Evolution, the research describes how land dwelling isopods, relatives of crabs and shrimp that are better known as woodlice or…
Morgan told the inquest Cusack had disclosed her relationship with Riglar at his request to everyone in his team. Speaking in an interview with Focus on Africa host Waihiga Mwaura, shared on Sunday, the singer explained why he wore pins bearing the names of the missing victims while performing on the global stage. Davido said he deliberately used the international platform to draw attention to Nigeria’s security challenges, arguing that remaining silent to protect the country’s reputation was unjustifiable…
