Bumblebees appear to like the taste of sugarDawn Monrose/Alamy Bees seem to show when they are pleased and like something, rather than just needing it, in one of the strongest signs yet that insects have subjective experiences. In recent decades, it has become clear that bees are capable of more complex behaviours than we previously thought, such as counting and demonstrating a sense of rhythm. But discerning whether they have inner states akin to our emotions is more difficult. For one thing, insects don’t have the flexible facial musculature of mammals, which we use to communicate our feelings. “How can…

The former Liverpool forward could not contain his delight after his scuffed penalty helped to seal a redemptive shootout triumph in Dallas for the Pharaohs on Friday.“I decided last minute. I am more experienced than others and I wanted to give them confidence,” said Salah, who had missed in Egypt’s last two shootouts, including the World Cup qualifying playoff against Senegal four years ago.“I don’t know if it’s my last World Cup, but I had to do it. Today was one of the…
Paul McCartney just gave Taylor Swift the ultimate wedding gift. He sang one of the Beatles’ most beloved tunes, for the first time since 1964, the classic hit “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” According to reports in People, he serenaded Travis Kelce and Taylor with this love song at their wedding on July 3, at Madison Square Garden. Busting out the Beatles’ first U.S. Number One for the first time in 62 years? What a mind. The Beatles stopped playing “I Want To Hold Your Hand” live in their early days, and for some reason, Paul has never revived…
