The Plateau State Police Command has detained an officer accused of shooting an unarmed trader in the leg at a checkpoint in Riyom Local Government Area of the state. According to a report by Daily Trust, the incident occurred on 11 August when the trader, identified as Danladi, was stopped at a checkpoint while transporting vegetables to the South-east. Suspected armed attackers have reportedly killed some and injured others after invading communities in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The attacks occurred in the early hours of Sunday in several communities in Mbazun Ward, including Mbaterem, Ayaba, Ikpur, Yina, Aboajio and Ukpen, according to statements by local officials and a member of the House of Representatives.
