Google released a newly proposed “AI Governance In America” framework that is worth digging into.gettyIn today’s column, I examine a newly released AI governance framework that is being floated by Google as a means of providing national guidance and oversight of frontier AI. Frontier AI is the type of AI that is customarily considered leading-edge, large-scale in size and scope, and is exemplified by the latest generative AI and large language models (LLMs) of the major AI makers such as OpenAI ChatGPT and GPT-5, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and others.Currently, there isn’t any overarching AI governance…
Bullshit is cheap but truth is expensive. Anyone with half a brain cell can post wild misinformation that goes mega viral, which wastes the time and expertise of highly trained people who feel an obligation to inform others of the truth. Today I want you to meet one of those highly-trained people, Dr. Zachary Rubin, who works on the front lines against scientific and medical misinformation.Rubin is a pediatric allergist and immunologist and author of the book All About Allergies. He likely came across my TikTok feed because I crave anti-misinformation content; one of my other favorite people doing this…

That may offer…
Machine learning is giving scientists a powerful new way to search for superconductors, materials that conduct electricity with zero resistance. An international team has demonstrated that AI can rapidly narrow an almost limitless number of possible material combinations to identify the most promising candidates. According to Aalto University Professor Päivi Törmä, who leads the SuperC consortium, the approach could dramatically speed the discovery of new superconductors. Superconductors allow electric current to flow without losing energy, but only when cooled to extremely low temperatures where quantum effects emerge. These remarkable materials are already used in technologies ranging from quantum computers and…
Roberto Martínez has confirmed his departure as Portugal head coach following the Seleção’s heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, insisting the tournament should not be viewed as a failure despite the early exit.
