In 2017, I bought an old Magnus chord organ off Craigslist for $10. It’s one of my favorite music gear purchases. Electric chord organs let you play full chords with just a press of a button, making them perfect for aspiring singer-songwriters or fooling around at home. But chord organs largely fell out of favor in the ’80s, as digital keyboards like those from Casio grew in popularity. The Telepathic Instruments Orchid attempts to recapture some of that simple parlor instrument magic. Just like those vintage electric chord organs, the Orchid allows you to play rich chord progressions without having to…

Nigerians deserve more than an official conclusion in Habila’s death, contends PAT ONUKWULI An unexplained death should unsettle any society that claims to value human life. It should matter whether the deceased was prominent or obscure, connected or ordinary, rich or poor. Mary Habila’s death is a matter of public concern, not because of her status, but because a young woman died in circumstances that remain unclear, and the state has a duty to establish what happened. The matter remains deeply personal to her family, but it is no longer exclusively private. Nor can it be left to the discretion of the…

The Barcelona winger Ferran Torres scored the only goal of a disjointed game that was almost ruined by Argentina’s deliberate spoiling tactics, which backfired when they were reduced to 10 men for extra time…
