Ford executives said they have hired 350 veteran engineers — some of them were former employees, while others had been working at suppliers — after artificial intelligence and automated systems failed to deliver the desired quality level. Bloomberg reports the company’s chief operating officer Kumar Galhotra told journalists that Ford had been “relying more and more on automated quality systems” with disappointing results. So the company “brought back technical specialists,” and those specialists “hunt for failure points before a part ever reaches the plant floor.” Charles Poon, Ford’s vice president of vehicle hardware engineering, added, “Mistakenly we thought that by…

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has expressed concern that consumers have yet to benefit fully from the recent decline in global crude oil prices, warning that it will sanction businesses found to be exploiting buyers in the downstream petroleum sector. The commission states that findings from its ongoing surveillance of the downstream petroleum market show that price reductions by local refiners, marketers, depot operators, and retail outlets have not been commensurate with the sharp drop in global crude oil prices. Tunji Bello, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the FCCPC, disclosed this in a…
Jun 27, 2026, 02:39 PM ETBrandon Aiyuk continued his online campaign against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, posting a video on YouTube in which he claims his former agent has influenced the ongoing situation and that general manager John Lynch recently showed up at his house. In the 3½-minute video, Aiyuk insisted that his relationship with the 49ers will never be repaired and that he has no plans to return to the team facilities — barring one exception.”We is not cool,” Aiyuk said. “We won’t be cool, and I will never be stepping in that building” outside of Oct. 19,…
‘There’s no place like home,” Dorothy declares at the end of The Wizard of Oz, as she departs the dazzling Emerald City for Aunt Em’s Kansas farmhouse. It’s a powerful metaphor for the way the domestic sphere is often portrayed in art: action, adventure and drama happen “out there” in glorious Technicolor, with the home rendered by contrast in sober sepia tones. Home may be the place we ultimately yearn for, but only once we have left it behind. While working on my second novel, Natural Disaster, I was periodically plagued by the potential pitfalls of putting domestic life front and…
There is a narrative war constantly going on in Nigeria. A bitter political opposition, led by extremely desperate folks are funding those narratives some of which have damaged the image of Nigeria all over the world. A friend sent a message from South Africa, bitterly complaining about how South Africans put down Nigeria – beyond Afrophobia. Nigeria has been turned to ‘gbantueyo’ (cheap/ fake/ disrespected) by these folks who are singularly interested in grabbing power and no more. They, and their ignorant followers who are like a cancer unto the nation are profiting from this short-term venture (monetarily). But I…
* Bamidele says proposal enjoys nationwide consensus, overwhelming legislative backing Sunday Aborisade in Abuja Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, has defended the proposed establishment of state police, declaring that the constitutional amendment bill was conceived out of the country’s worsening security challenges rather than political expediency. Bamidele stated this in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday by his Media Office. He was reacting to growing public debate over the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Alteration) (State Police) Bill, 2026. Bamidele said the proposal reflected years of nationwide consultations and…

Despite trade restrictions, China has reclaimed the title of the world’s fastest supercomputer for the first time since 2018. LineShine has pushed El Capitan out of number one on the TOP500 ranking. That’s despite strict limits on what high-powered computing components can be sold to China by US firms, which dominate the list, with America holding three of the top five spots. LineShine doesn’t even use any GPUs, which are typically the backbone of modern supercomputers. While reaching the peak of the Top500 carries obvious bragging rights, it also serves as a message from the Chinese government to the US. The…
