Since the consecration of the Ram Mandir, Ayodhya has been undergoing a remarkable transformation, evolving from a historic pilgrimage destination into one of India’s fastest-growing hubs for luxury real estate, infrastructure development and spiritual tourism.
Backed by massive public investment and improving connectivity, the city has also caught the attention of several high-profile investors, including Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor.
Among celebrity investors, Amitabh Bachchan has emerged as the biggest name to place his bet on Ayodhya’s rapidly expanding property market.
According to reports, the veteran actor has invested approximately Rs 90 crore across multiple land acquisitions, making him one of the earliest and largest celebrity investors in the city.
Amitabh’s business in property investment was stated to have started before the opening ceremony of the Ram temple since he had bought himself a plot of 10,000 square feet, which was estimated to be worth about Rs 14.5 crore. He added a plot of 5,372 square feet that is valued at about Rs 4.54 crore.
Afterwards, Amitabh bought a plot of 25,000 square feet of premium land near the Sarayu township project for an amount of nearly Rs 40 crore.
The actor invests in many different areas. Through his family-owned company, AB Corp Ltd., Amitabh is said to have purchased a 67-acre land plot for Rs 35 crore. In addition, a 54,454 sq. ft. land plot has been allotted to the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, in which a memorial in memory of his father, famous poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, is expected to be built.
Whereas the biggest celebrity investment in the city goes to Amitabh so far, Ranbir Kapoor has also invested in Ayodhya’s emerging luxury real estate space.
As per earlier reports, Ranbir has bought a 2,134 sq. ft. premium land plot in the Sarayu Township for Rs 3.31 crore. The investment comes at an important juncture in the life of the actor, as he is set to star as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s grand movie Ramayana.
Regarding the purchase itself, Ranbir had called it his “divine calling”, mentioning that he believed the property was going to be his long-term investment and one of the future legacies of his family.
Apart from investments by celebrities, Ayodhya is seeing an unprecedented drive in the creation of infrastructure.

As per reports, projects worth approximately Rs 85,000 crore are currently being developed for the city, which will make it one of the spiritual and tourist cities of the world. The development work includes improvements in road and railway connectivity, airport development, hotels, and luxurious housing projects.
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The epic adaptation is planned as a two-part cinematic event, with the first instalment scheduled to release in 2026, followed by the second part in 2027. The film is among the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema and will see Ranbir essay the role of Lord Ram.
