Sudanese side Al Ahly Wad Madani have officially unveiled Nigerian tactician Aliyu Zubair as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Zubair recently put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Sudanese club following his departure from Egyptian second-tier outfit Telecom SC.
The Nigerian coach was unveiled on Friday during a ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda, where Al Ahly Wad Madani are currently conducting their preparations for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Speaking after his unveiling, Zubair expressed his excitement at taking charge of the historic Sudanese club while acknowledging the expectations that come with his new role.
“Al Ahly Madani is another huge challenge for me. It is a great club with rich history and high ambitions,” Zubair said.
“I am looking forward to working with the players, the management and the fans to achieve our objectives, especially as the team prepare to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
The former Flying Eagles coach now begins work with the squad as preparations intensify in Kigali, with the club’s attention firmly fixed on its continental campaign.

His immediate assignment will be to guide Al Ahly Wad Madani through the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will face Kenyan side Tusker in the first preliminary round.
The appointment represents another important chapter in Zubair’s coaching career, having previously managed Nigerian clubs Gombe United and El-Kanemi Warriors.
One of his most notable achievement came with El-Kanemi Warriors in 2024 when he guided the Maiduguri-based side to Federation Cup glory.
Zubair will now be hoping to bring his experience on the domestic scene to Sudan as he takes on the challenge of leading Al Ahly Wad Madani in their pursuit of success both at home and on the continent.
