After a somewhat ho-hum season 2 and a slow start to season 3, fans began to wonder whether Silo would turn things around. Well, it did, and then some. As of this week’s season 3 finale, Silo has now racked up the highest-scored episodes in its history, with the final episode far and away the winner. As it stands, Silo season 3 episode 10, Troy, has a 9.6/10 on IMDB. That beats the previous week’s episode, Farewell, which stands at a 9.3/10, which took the record when it aired. In a quiet summer garden, a caterpillar perches on a branch, munching serenely on leaves. A moment later it freezes. It senses danger—and just in time. From behind, a wasp approaches, sizing up its prey.Tobacco hornworm caterpillars don’t look like they have ears, and yet they’re able to sense predators such as wasps. There’s no question the allegations in the Channel 4 film have been embarrassing for Reform, and disrupted what they hoped would be a conference about their plans for office if they win the next General Election.Everywhere around the huge, draughty exhibition hall in Birmingham are giant posters and placards saying, “Reform – the first 100 days”. They wanted to herald their deal with a serious contender to be the next French President, Jordan Bardella, to deal with small boats. They were keen to highlight the promise to cut income tax if they win the election, scheduled to be in 2029.…

A study published in Nature Communications has revealed an unusual form of quantum oscillation in a three-dimensional topological insulator. The findings show that electrons in zirconium pentatelluride (ZrTe5) can behave in unexpected ways when exposed to temperatures close to absolute zero and extremely powerful magnetic fields. The research was led by scientists from the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the University of Washington, and other U.S. institutions. The team combined electrical transport experiments performed in magnetic fields as strong as 60 tesla and at temperatures near 0.7 kelvin (-272.45 °C) with detailed theoretical calculations.…
