There has been a small slice of Wales in Argentina for more than 150 years. About 160 Welsh emigrants sailed to Patagonia in 1865 to create a new settlement, ‘Y Wladfa’, where their language, culture and religion could flourish free from English influence and dominance. The language is still actively spoken there, while more than 50,000 Patagonians can claim Welsh ancestry. One of those is Jeremias James. James was born and raised in Trelew, a city founded in 1886 by Welsh settlers in the Chubut province. Its name translates from Welsh to “Town of Lewis” in honour of its founder, Lewis…
We are all familiar with the cliche of the influencer narrating their daily routines – or should I say, their journey? – and trying to convince us, and perhaps themselves, they are living their best life. We know, too, about the websites offering intimate access in exchange for cash. But what if the online medium were put to more honest purposes? What if, instead of endless positivity, it presented a painful recovery from trauma?Haunted … Verona Verbakel in OnlyFans for Therapy. ABUJA — The Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, has said the Nigerian economy is showing strong signs of recovery and accelerated growth following a series of “painful” reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu. The revenue service, in an internal report, said the economy had moved “decisively from acute macroeconomic distress toward a more stable and increasingly resilient footing.” According to the report, the improvement followed reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration. The NRS said the administration inherited four major economic distortions: a fiscally unsustainable fuel subsidy regime, an opaque foreign exchange system that discouraged investment, a non-performing oil sector and a…

C. nemoralis also secretes two different kinds of protective mucus when disturbed. One is a sticky yellow mucus similar to that produced by certain mollusks that is highly resistant to breakage or tearing. The other is a bubbly substance scientists believe is secreted to smother small predators and/or wash them out of the shell. The researchers analyzed all five types of mucus using various techniques, including proteomics, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, cryoscanning electron microscopy, and liquid chromatography. They found that all five kinds of mucus share a similar protein composition and that collagen IV is the main structural component. It’s…

Archaeologists working at several sites in southern Africa have uncovered hundreds of unusual pieces of engraved ostrich eggshell. More than 60,000 years old, these fragments were created by groups of Homo sapiens living in the region. A new study led by researchers at the University of Bologna suggests that the markings were far more organized than simple scratches or improvised decorations. Published in PLOS One, the research finds that the engravings followed recurring geometric principles involving parallel lines, right-angle relationships, and repeated regular patterns. “These signs reveal a surprisingly structured, geometric way of thinking,” says Silvia Ferrara, Professor at the…
