Suspected crime boss Daniel Kinahan appeared in court in Dublin on Sunday after being extradited from Dubai following his arrest there in April. Kinahan has been charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation between October 2015 and April 2017. Still, for Trump, holding onto the debunked and dangerous claim appears to be a personal issue. Trump’s health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is an ardent anti-vaccine activist who has long promoted the false link while generally disparaging life-saving immunizations. But even Kennedy has recently shifted from publicly discussing vaccines, given the political peril. Recent reporting indicates that the White House’s continued effort to forge a false connection between vaccines and autism is coming from Trump directly. The octogenarian reportedly wants to be remembered as the president who cured autism and believes he can achieve that by scaling back vaccines,…
The $100 Million Investment Fund will help in repositioning the State as one of the country’s foremost investment destinations, writes ANABA PHILIP When history eventually chronicles the defining moments of Delta State’s economic transformation, one policy initiative is certain to occupy a prominent place: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s unveiling of a US$100 million (approximately ₦133 billion) Viability Gap Fund. More than just another government intervention, the fund represents a strategic economic instrument designed to unlock private capital, accelerate infrastructure development, stimulate industrial growth and reposition Delta State as one of Nigeria’s foremost investment destinations. In an era where subnational governments are…
Chemists depend on sophisticated molecules to develop life-saving drugs, produce advanced high-tech materials, and recreate processes found in living systems. One of the most useful tools for building these complicated structures is single-electron transfer, a technique that can activate molecules that would otherwise resist reacting and allow them to join together. For decades, however, chemists have faced a basic limitation in how electron transfer works. When two molecules are competing to receive an electron, the electron typically goes to the molecule that is easier to reduce. That natural preference can prevent researchers from directing reactions toward other potentially useful pathways.…

He said a colleague told him the nature of the calls, and that “apparently we’re going to go straight through Dobby’s grave”.”I said ‘Dobby, who’s Dobby? I don’t know Dobby?'”I said ‘he’s a fictitious character in a fictitious book, the whole thing is fictitious what are you talking about?'”[The colleague] said ‘no it’s very, very serious’.”Ludlam said he then discussed with planners “exactly how to reroute the cable so we wouldn’t go anywhere close to Dobby’s grave”.He added: “A lot of people were very happy about that, and the project is now going [ahead] and Dobby’s happy.”The Bronze Age remains…
August is peak tomato season. This most versatile of fruits can be put to just about any use, from raw to slow-cooked and from oven- or sun-dried to desserts (believe it or not, they go incredibly well with summer berries, especially strawberries and raspberries). Not only that, but tomatoes have high glutamate levels that rise even further as they ripen, which gives them an umami kick. However you prepare them, though, the key thing is never to keep tomatoes in the fridge: the chill breaks down their cell structure and, even more importantly, affects their flavour in an alarming way.Tomato…
Good morning. In late July, Itamar Ben-Gvir, West Bank settler and far-right extremist minister of security in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, joined a group of more than 2,000 Jewish extremists to storm al-Aqsa mosque compound, Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site. The far-right group has been doing this for years. Ben-Gvir has made series of visits to the site over the last three years, eroding norms and inflaming tensions. Jordanian officials have recently warned that it could be at risk of an “imminent” Israeli takeover. With national elections scheduled in October, and many eyes still firmly on Gaza (this weekend, Netanyahu rejected a…
