…As Police rescue 75 kidnapped victims
Two people were reportedly killed, while two others were kidnapped when suspected bandits attacked Abu Community in Ninzo Chiefdom, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Saturday night.
The incident, which occurred between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., has heightened security concerns in the community, with the traditional institution calling for intensified surveillance and the activation of community vigilance groups.
One of the kidnapped victims, identified as Ezekiel from Gwantu, is the owner of a private clinic located close to the residence of the late District Head of Abu.
The second victim was identified as the wife of the late District Head of Abu, Audu Galadima, the Fagachin Ninzo.
According to a statement issued by Aminu A. Abdullahi, Dan Malikin Ninzo and Council Secretary to the Fadan Ninzo, the two persons killed were walking along a road close to the clinic when they were confronted by the attackers.
The statement said the hoodlums were hiding in a teak plantation behind the clinic and opened fire on the victims after they sought to know who had flashed them with a light.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 75 men, women and children who were abducted by armed men in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the State while travelling in commercial buses at Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
A statement issued on Saturday by Mansir Hassan, the
Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, indicated that it received information about the incident at about 5:30pm from the Birnin Gwari Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Hassan added that the abductors took the victims into the forest and concealed them in a cave within a mountainous area, saying the abductors were armed with AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons.
According to Hassan, a team of Police operatives from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the location, as the abductors fled on sighting the Police, abandoning the victims, who were subsequently rescued unharmed.
