Bake Off: The Professionals
8pm, Channel 4
With a place in the final six at stake, the four remaining teams must produce two dozen perfectly executed savoury millefeuille and babka buns. Before that happens, they’re tasked with creating intricate biscuit showpieces inspired by the ancient wonders of the world (hanging gardens of bourbon, anyone?) accompanied by elegant petit gâteaux. Ali Catterall
Best Medicine
8pm, Sky One
“I’m a doctor, not a social worker!” The belated US adaptation of Doc Martin continues, with big-city medic Martin Best grumping around the quaint Maine town of Port Wenn. When he is guilted into checking on a local recluse who has missed their monthly supply pickup, it ends up affecting the whole community. Graeme Virtue
Allegiance
9pm, U&Alibi
It’s hammy, sure, but this Canadian cop procedural is entertaining, too, with just the right amount of ripped-from-the-headlines drama. This week, an Indian wedding descends into chaos when the groom is stabbed and gifts are stolen. What have a group of college students got to do with it? Hannah J Davies
The Pike County Murders: A Family Massacre
9pm, U&W
This true-crime series digs deep into the rural community of Pike County, Ohio to explore a shocking case. In 2016, eight members of the Rhoden family were shot dead in their home. The murders seemed inexplicable but, using first-person testimony and reconstructions, this show unpicks a deadly, submerged family feud. PH
The American Revolution
11.30pm, BBC Four
Via readings, reconstructions and informed talking heads, this meticulous historical series pieces together the story of the battle for American independence. As this penultimate episode begins, Washington’s army is in tatters and the men are licking their wounds at Valley Forge. However, a new alliance is formed which begins to shift the dial. PH
Fire Country
2am, Sky Witness
This firefighting drama boasts an emotional register that goes all the way from melodramatic to utterly hysterical. As it returns for a fourth season, the Cal Fire team are still dealing with the fallout of the huge Zabel Ridge blaze at the end of last season. There are losses to be mourned, but power struggles and internal politics are still impossible to keep at bay. Perhaps another really big fire will help the team bond again? Phil Harrison
Film choice
The First Wives Club (Hugh Wilson, 1996), 11.15pm, Sky Cinema Greats
If Destiny’s Child were middle-aged white women, they’d be Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton putting the world to rights in this 1996 comedy. They star as old college pals who reunite at the funeral of their friend (Stockard Channing), who has been driven to death by an evil ex-husband. Recognising similarities with their own situations, this trio of divorcees seek righteous revenge, culminating in a song-and-dance number set to Lesley Gore’s female empowerment classic, You Don’t Own Me. Ellen E Jones
